A group of us went to happy hour at 219 West yesterday – It was pretty awesome. I’ve been to a lot of happy hour places, and I’d say that 219 West is pretty high up there next to Kyoto and Saba Blue Water Cafe.
My favorite was definitely the Caprese mini burgers with prosciutto, fresh mozzarella, tomato & basil – that is quite a combination for a burger. Other populars hit was the Portabella mushroom & crab fondue, Grilled asparagus with lump crab.

We went out to Estancia Churrascaria to celebrate my 26th birthday last night. None of us have been there before so we wanted to try it out. Compared to the other Churrascaria’s I’ve been to, I would rank Estancia behind Fogo de Chao and Texas de Brazil. Even though I had a great time, I thought that the quality of meat was sub-par compared to the other churrascaria’s I’ve been to. But, Estancia is a lot cheaper compared to the other churrascarias (dinner was $29.90/person).
If you’re going to try it out, here’s a tip: When ordering water, be sure to ask for tap water. We didn’t know at first, and they were giving us bottled water (and boy, they kept them coming). Even though it was like ordering a glass of tea at the end, it’s still something that’s good to know.

I got this in a promotional email. Just thought I’d pass this along.
I’ve seen a lot of very interesting HDR (High Dynamic Range) images on the HDR Flickr group. So I decided to try creating my own rendition yesterday. Here are the results:
HDR:

Non-HDR (27mm f/6.3):

I’m sure that a lot of it has to do with the fact that that was my first HDR image, but I’m pretty disappointed with the way it turned out. I’d appreicate any suggestions/tips/pointers if you’ve got some.
Here are some of my favorite images from last night:

Congratulations to my alma mater for winning the National Championship.
Throughout the night, many people got the credit they deserve for our performance: Vince Young, Mack Brown, Gene Chizik, Michael Huff, and so on… But there’s one name that has been left out: Greg Davis. I remember a few years ago, we were all calling him out and asking him to get booted. But words simply can’t describe the job that he did this season, especially yesterday.
Here are a few images I took with my cell phone after the watch party:

Here are a few screenshots from some media outlets:

I crossed an item off of the “things to do before I die” list on Saturday.

I also saw a t-shirt that read: “You can’t spell cocksucker without OU”. LOL

Took a half day from work and went to Sam’s graduation in College Station yesterday.
Here’s something that most people might not know: As a senior in high school, I wanted to go to A&M over UT. (Yes, those obviously were confusing times for me) However, God intervened. A&M for some reason decided to put me on the waiting list, and UT welcomed me with open arms.
Here’s something I found interesting yesterday:
- They prayed before and after the commencement ceremony.
- The commencement speaker was telling us about a sheep judging contest he was involved in.
- He then also proceeded to talk about horses, cats, and various other animals.
- After I turned off of 290 on the way to College Station from Austin, I saw at most 5 cars before I got into College Station.

On a different note, it was really good to see my friend and meet some of his friends. College Station might be a lot of things, but I’ve got to admit, the people there are super nice and friendly.
